How do you usually make your tea?

I'm not picky. I have types I like but... brew it however suits you, I'll drink it.

It's called an electric kettle. See? [they fill it up with water before putting it on the burner plate and plugging it into an outlet.] That way you don't have to use the stove or start a fire or anything and the water gets nice and hot!

And what's tea without toast? [they point at what's probably like an 8-slice toaster.]

Maybe I need to start with knowing what electricity is, or rather how it works. Seeing as something like 90% of everything here seems to be relying on it to function.

[ this kettle is sorcery. but he understands that it's making things hot without things being on fire. a good start. ]

I'm not so good with science, but think of electricity like a power source. It has these, like, coils and wires that the energy runs through to generate a current for light and stuff. If the connection's broken and the current can't flow, then you don't get power. Make sense?

[they will also start getting slices of bread for their toast.]

... Like if you lit an oil trail on fire and something obstructed the path of the fire before it could reach its destination? [ it's. it's the closest thing he has to a comparison. ]

So as long as nothing's out of place, it'll just do its own thing and make things work?

Yeah, that's a pretty good comparison. [shoving bread into the toaster!] Electricity can do all sorts of stuff. It makes kitchen appliances work, it's what powers the TVs around this place, and even things like the cute lamp at the end of the hall in the sleep bay only work with electricity.

But it's pretty self-sufficient around here.

I'm good at plenty of things. The profile's not a bad place to start though. Maybe I'll even answer a few questions in exchange for the tea.

[thanks! they will take it and yuri can probably get a glimpse of lust's fingernails which have been painted with a cute pink polish. they're also wearing fingerless gloves.]

I can take a hint. [they laugh though and as the kettle starts to whistle lust moves to get some loose-leaf tea in a strainer to make them a few cups.] Some of the things on your profile don't match up with the rest. Those are the ones I'm most curious about.

[ he's watching how they make the tea, almost subconsciously. this is sort of familar, like having tea with byleth. only on a ?spaceship, maybe. ] Everyone has multiple talents, myself included.

[they will? let them paint yuri's nails for him actually. the tea is being made and it seems like lust knows what they're doing, letting it seep as the toast pops up. they'll move on to butter said-toast and pull out a little jar of jam and another of honey. they're doing a whole spread here.]

Well yeah, but you've gotta admit there's a pretty big difference between knowing how to put on eyeliner and military training.

A guy can look good while learning how to survive a war. I know plenty of women who know how to apply make up and blast a man with magic from a few feet away.

I've never been in a war, so I'll just have to take your word for it. [granted, yuri does look very nice so there's that.] Is magic a common thing where you're from? Do you know how to use it, too?

They're highly overrated, and just dangerous for everyone involved. Try and keep it that way, alright? [ he looks lovely, thank you for noticing. ]

Yeah, for the most part. You have to train in it. Some people have a talent for it, others don't. Same as anything else really.

I'll do my best. [teasing. but they slide both a cup of tea and also a plate of toast to him.]

So if you're not born with a magical ability or anything, you could still learn? But it'd just be a little harder.

You wouldn't find regular folks using magic. It's a weapon.

[ thank u for tea and toast, he will accept it gratefully ] I only started using it at the academy, that's where you can really get your hands on the books you need to cast it. It's not some sort of special chosen one skill, or anything.

If you're willing to fight, you can use it. You'll just never progress past your starting abilities without the means to keep training.

Guess you're right. No different than any other skill. [yuri's pleasant company at least, so they don't mind giving him treats and steering the conversation.]
