first of all, thanks. i used the vote counting power on saturday. secondly -- is there anything stopping us from just... monitoring the voting box going forward?
And were your findings useful? The box is there, sure, but can you truly watch it the entire time? And furthermore, could you trust anyone else to watch the box should one of you need to step away? Trials are chaos, as I'm sure you've seen. Monitoring the box would be difficult even on the best of days. So. I suppose the question is what would be your plan?
i was curious how many would vote with a clear culprit. i'm... both surprised it was that low, and also surprised it was as high as it was. so, yes, in a way i think it did help.
... sit on the box directly and trade off duties depending on who's needed for what.
[ is he being serious? i mean. maybe. ]
also just to make sure it was an observational thing, and not one of these mysterious "we can't talk about that" things we keep running into here.
[we love you guys but absolutely not on an ooc level]
...your results would likely be skewed. If votes were meant to be revealed, they wouldn't be anonymous in the first place. Removal of anonymity also takes away the agency of the people, and that renders the whole trial pointless if they can't obtain justice in the way that makes sense to them.
... i'm not sure what i think of this justice anymore, greed. i'll be honest. not when it's almost impossible to find someone after a trial has finished, and that justice isn't given out to the right person.
i know, i know. do better. but that's still how i think of it all, at the moment.
[icly they had to at least try but yeah that's valid]
theres something else i was wondering actually if we vote . . . not a persons name but deliberately write no one or put it in while its blank instead of just not voting
would that count for anything ? law had the most people write his name but there were more of us who didnt write a name at all than who did. . .
im sure there may have been some who just forgot to vote but wanting to find a way to hold someone accountable without condemning them to death feels as intentional to me as writing a name
As for Miss Shi Qingxuan's question...I suppose nothing would happen if you submitted a blank vote. Why would it?
You're looking to take the pacifist route, I understand that. But you must realize that the longer this happens, the more likely people will want to take matters into their own hands.
So perhaps your goal should be finding a way to prevent the murders themselves, or find out why they're occurring in the first place, rather than try to stop the inevitable aftermath.
that or . . . if there was some way to stay up when we normally fall asleep, maybe we could help hide whoever the victim is from the killer ? since we may not be able to reach that quota in a week, even if we are indulging.
if we could catch them in the moment instead of at trial maybe they would talk to us.
i hadnt heard that . . . but i wonder if maybe there were no consequences because he was already going to be facing consequences for getting the majority vote ?
And what would stop the killer from simply turning a one-person kill into a three-person pile-up? But that's correct. He was already set to face the consequences of other people's votes. An additional punishment hardly felt necessary.
[looks at the number of comments here and the initial text that would have started this conversation at the audience request. we're about to hit the 20 text limit in this groupchat]
youre pretty smart so your opinion holds a lot of weight. . .
[okay, no attempting to wake up and stop a killer, apparently]
we can remind people at the trial too in case theres anyone we cant get ahold of this week
That would be wise. You realize people get swept up in the absurdity of the trial, so they may forget anyhow. If you're looking for something to do, perhaps you can start thinking of a way to ensure you capture the right person should they act. This is the best advice I can give you for now.
i'll mention it before the weekend. and again at trial a couple of times. greed's right, someone might try it anyway.
similar to how molly and harrow caught law out this week? can do. although we'll have to be a little more cautious with what we pick this time around. medbay gets used a lot, but people will be watching out for the same trick twice.

[me, writing a single trial tag on a busy saturday at work: sqx is here at the voting box the entire fucking time]

... law said that he voted for douman on saturday, and there were no consequences though. is that true across the board?

... right, so it's situational and if our necks aren't on the block, we shouldn't be doing it.
no subject
so it should be easy to just throw them in the jail or something. . .
hopefully he didnt tell anyone else that he didnt have any consequences for voting for a dead person
no subject
But yes, I would avoid voting for the deceased otherwise.
