Mmmmm... Prooobably not...? That depends, I guess. The list we're working with is kinda tiny until we kill Endorsi.
[TERRIBLE. Also terrible: he likes Envy enough that he would love to see Envy suffer, unfortunately, but these casual reactions are just not enough to stoke his interest in Murdering Envy's Favorite People For Funsies.]
She's too soft! There's only like, five people she doesn't mind seeing dead!
[THE UTMOST PETULANCE... The way he says this, you'd think he's talking about someone not sorting their recyclables properly and not a person's very valid reluctance to stab.]
I wanted to take Lenore off, so it's really only Aoi, Eleanor, Misa and Primrose right now... She said we can revisit the ones who aren't in her top no-kill after those guys are gone, as if it'll be easier for her to off anyone else later if she's already kicking up a fuss about 'em now.
[CURSED!! And yet, he seems perfectly content. Awful when you're a social, tactile creature while simultaneously being a curse.]
Yup! I don't get it, but that's the way things almost always are. Anyone who thinks otherwise is probably just kidding themselves. At this rate, she's definitely gonna end up dying for someone else's wish, whether it's ours or a different person's.
People are getting smarter and smarter about stuff, so it's more and more important to have guys around that'll back you up and help you cover things, yeah?
[A SIGH... He hates having to use his braincell so much?? He would have loved to have killed so much more by now than he has, and yet, his hands are tied.]
I wanna stick around so I can have fun for as long as possible, so I have to be careful...
[PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL MAHITO WITH GENTLE AFFECTIONS WHILE HE'S TALKING ABOUT CASUAL MURDER. He does seem to very much enjoy it, though.]
That's true... It'll be really nice to have everything back the way it should be! [REACHING A HAND UP and flexing his fingers!! Probably imagining turning someone into a plate of organ spaghetti.] I still haven't really gotten used to not being able to see souls either, even though it's been a while... But I don't think I'd ever get used to that.
...what's it like, seeing souls? I mean- I see dead people, so theoretically that's the same thing? But ghosts just look like they did when they were alive-- or like they did when they died, depending.
[the attention will continue until mahito gets bored of it, tbh.]
[For now, getting bored of it doesn't seem to be in the cards... Though he does shift a little so he can hold his hands out! He holds them about five inches apart, making a sort of cradle with his palms.]
Mm... It's a little hard to describe! But it's like looking out into a sea of light, or like seeing candles that move in the wind. The more a person feels and the stronger their emotions are, the more the light flickers. [SOUL METABOLISM... It's some funky shit. He spreads his fingers a little.] There's a feeling that comes with them, too! Souls all look the same to me in their base shape, but I can still tell which one belongs to which person if I spend enough time around it, so it's an easy way to find people or tell them apart. I can still sense it even if I'm not looking at it.
[thanks light novel for giving me all this new soul lore]
...is that just how the world looks to you, all the time? Or do you have to actively try to see them?
[his head tilts a little, curious-- of course he's fascinated by the idea of someone else seeing the world differently from others, in a very literal sense.]
[This is surprisingly (or not) not the first time someone else has shown interest in this particular topic, and he answers with a little huff of laughter.]
That's the way it always looks to me, mm! [HIS SOUL EYES.] I've explained that coming here has been like losing a sense, before - like hearing, or touch. It's strange to look at someone and not see the shape or light of their soul.
[He's honestly sure plenty of people here do, given the mix of abilities and General Types Of Existences present. Still, he talks like it's a novel thing.]
Hey, are there anything like sorcerers where you come from? You sound like you'd be pretty close to one, if you were from my home.
Oh-- then yeah, I think I'm close enough to that. I don't really do any kind of exorcism with spirits, though? I probably could, if I wanted, but... I don't like the idea. I'd rather get them ready to move on than force them to.
Haha, you'd definitely be in the minority. But exorcism for a sorcerer is different, I think! It's not really about helping something move on, it's just about clearing out a danger to humans.
[A little shrug. He views humans as less than insects and understands sorcerers view curses in the same way. He's not like Jogo; it doesn't bother him in the same deep-seated way.]

[He didn't even get Douman in the end!! And he's even leaving Gojou alone...!]
You're not super attached to anyone else, right?

[don't just say that so conversationally, envy, jesus.]

What's the list you're working with?

[he pats mahito's head... there there, horrible murdercurse.]
I like having you here too, so don't go and get yourself caught?

I'm gonna try really hard not to get caught! The challenge is kind of fun, at least... But it's a pain, too.
[UGHHH HE JUST WANTS TO TOUCH SOMEONE AND MAKE THEM EXPLODE LIKE THE GOOD OL' DAAAYS.]
I miss being able to kill people normally.

[if mahito likes the petting, it will continue... sometimes a curse is just an overgrown cat and that's fine.]

Normally I'd be able to sense it if any of you weren't human, or had powers? And obviously none of you do here! So I don't feel anything, either.

[WHY DOES GOJOU KEEP COMING UP IN HIS CONVERSATIONS.]
Exorcist would probably be another term that might be more widely used.
