[ he squeezes her hand, once, tight. there's a flicker of worry underneath a lot of sharp as iron resolve. he's processing, filtering through his thoughts - and trying to pick what to say, too. emotional fortitude has never really been his strong suit. ]
To gain our desires, to prevent our comrades from being 'consumed', to do anything - the key to it is indulging. But, indulging causes you to transform like this, too.
[ what a mess. ]
... What do you want, Lup? [ not necessarily her 'desire', per se, but - ] What can I do?
[ a pause, and he glances around briefly, then stops walking, giving a gentle tug on that gloved hand. it's funny - that's the second time this week he's felt that exact combination of emotions from someone else. his own respond, affected, even if he doesn't show it on his face. ]
...Let's go upstairs. [ that's not home, obviously, but it's - more private, maybe, than open on the beach, to have this conversation. ]
[she holds his hand tightly, and teleports them - upstairs, to her room. it looks the same as ever, but he's probably observant enough to see that there are a stack of what look like letters on her desk. her bed is also an unmade mess.]
once they're up here, gu yun takes off his liuli glass - he's popped the lens out in favor for a cosmetic one from the infinity closet so he can wear it around, since his sight is good enough that he doesn't need it, then pockets it with his free hand, glancing over to the letters. he wants to ask, and will, putting it away for a moment and instead letting her lead the way - wherever she wants to go. ]
... How long have you been here, Lup? Besides just a while.
Edited (eh ill get to that in a minute ) 2021-03-23 17:52 (UTC)
[she just pulls him to her bed, really. it's the only place to sit other than her desk. she sits him down, and then sighs before heading across the room to the little bathroom that's connected. she's going to change into pajamas. this is a pajamas talk.]
[ this is absolutely a pajamas talk, yeah. gu yun nudges out of his boots so he doesn't get any sand anywhere, but otherwise just shifts to sit on the bed, watching lup as she makes her way across the room to go change.
seven months...six weeks with them, then. ]
... I went to do a little investigating, earlier, and I believe I saw a memory of yours. You'd been here for three months, then, and it felt - rather like this now. [ like the indulgence center. like she was a participant, considering what all was being talked about. death threats. ] What happened, that brought you from there to where you are now?
[ scooting over a bit to make room on the bed! but. ]
You were talking to a girl with bushy brown hair. [ he makes a gesture roughly, at her height and also her hair. ] That you all had lost track of time - and about someone named Fenris, who made a death threat against you.
[ lup will feel his immense displeasure at that pretty much immediately, a fierce sort of protectiveness. ]
Ah, yeah. [...] Hermione. The girl's name. [a little wave of wobbly sadness, grief.] Uh, Fenris mostly - we were all there for so long and he just did not like me. I pushed him a bit too hard once or twice and he just figured I'd be an acceptable uh, target.
It wasn't like this, back then. Your set up? We didn't have any of that. It was way more lawless.
[i can't remember if i've described how weird her hair feels, but. it's a silky, almost liquid texture. she still seems to enjoy it, though.]
Like uh, no Thursday night kills, for one. People just decided things were taking too long and tried to murder each other. Sometimes they got caught by other people, sometimes they didn't. Sometimes we didn't even find a body until a week later.
... You know, I just found this out recently. Fenris was going to kill me. He asked Despair to help him.
[ yes because he likes playing with it! even if it's lava, it feels nice, particularly to his already sensitive sense of touch, so. stroking through it and watching it move around his fingers is a nice metric as he thinks about the circumstances. no real emotional reaction besides the furrowing of his brow, but.
... then there's that flash of displeasure again. gu yun dislikes this person on principle actually. ]
That plan wasn't successful. [ his tone's a little sour, there, sharp with sarcasm. it better not have been!!!!! ]
[something feels nice and safe inside her, when she feels that displeasure.]
Hah. No, Despair agreed to help, and then shot him when his back was turned. [a little wave of fondness? or rather, gratitude, maybe. it's a complex feeling. she's very fond of despair.]
[ serves whoever this person is right. there's a little bit of returned gratitude, there, and... not quite relief. satisfaction, maybe. fucker. ]
There were thirty-something names on that list, that people saw in the security room. Were those people all there with you? And this sort of lawlessness went on for three months and longer...?
[lmfskdf him being so pissed about it makes her laugh a little.]
... Yeah. It wasn't lawless until then, you know? We all sort of got along and did our own thing, indulged or whatever, but like I said. It was taking too long. And eventually people got sick of waiting.
[ hmmm... he can picture that. it reminds of him something wrath said near the beginning, when they first met - the same people over and over gets boring. ]
[ if he were just a little more sensitive, he might slow down - say something like 'it's alright, take your time'. tragically, gu yun is not so here we are. ]
Mmn. So it would be. [ ... ] Was it? What happened? [ he's thinking of the possibilities, but - there's not much point in spiraling off onto tangents. ]
there's a beat - she'll feel his own worry and anxiety in response, a surprisingly emotional first blush before he pushes it back down-- and he reaches to find her hand, sliding his fingers through hers. ]
That's alright - then we won't. [ for now, he'll put those emotions to the side. questions to come to understand later, on his own, it seems. gu yun's not a complete idiot, thankfully. ]
Let's focus on the goal, instead. Indulging is the key to get you all home, too, right?
[there's a sense of relief, there. she's nervous, which is accompanied by a strong sense of distaste - she hates being nervous, she hates being scared. she's never scared, but here... well.
she holds his hand tightly in her own gloved one, warm and steady.]

[ which is something that means the world to him, if his desires here are any indication. ] I won't tell a soul.
