We became Avatars at that point because there was no one else left. The ninth Avatar doesn't exist. And technically it's both yourselves and your indulgence acting as fuel.
I believe in time you'll find that answer yourself, Ms. Shellstrop. But there has always been a price to pay for the things you want. I suppose if we had to suffer with him for as long as we did, it's only fair.
