[there's a wry sort of grin, and his expression flickers to something a little unsettled then before it evens out. that aside...]

The right choice and the necessary choice will often be separate. But the necessary choice can turn into the right one even if the right one isn't what's necessary.

[ grace benevolently does not point out that he clearly likes whoever that is even if he's trying to be professional and refuses to admit he has friends, nerd, but she does smile a little. the rest of it... ]

... I guess that makes sense. [ in a mildly convoluted sort of way, but she gets why he was sharing. even though she doesn't quite think it applies, but that would require talking about the full of it. ] Thanks, Greed.

[it's mildly convoluted but they are Trying, which is why they also go quite after that. they aren't entirely sure what to do with being thanked for something a little silly but they don't outright dismiss it either.]

she leans over to maus and whispers to him to lick greed's face ]

[maus is a dumb bitch but an obedient one which means they gets up to crawl over greed's chest and immediately start showering their face with kisses.]

Ghrk! Maus, no. [they barely do anything to stop this though and maus wags his tail instead.]

[alteracion]

[ grace laughs because she did this ]

Good boy, Maus! He loves you that much, see!

[there's a quiet bark and the tail goes 90 mph while maus licks greed's face.]

Mmph! [they bring a hand up to try and make maus stop, but they only succeed in petting the dog instead.] How dare you teach my dog new tricks.

[this is probably not a new trick.]

[alteracion]

He knew what I meant on his own! He's very smart like that.

He's a menace is what he is. [again, still not meaning it! but he pets maus's head and lets the dog lick his fingers instead.]

The dog I had as a child was a Pomeranian as well. Missile. [it's unnecessary information, but he did mention this to grace briefly. may as well provide the context.]

Missile... [ she repeats it, staring at greed and maus ] Let me guess, he ran around all over the place?

Generally. We found him abandoned by his previous owner. I was the only one with the means to take care of him, so I did. I've thought of getting another dog, but time constraints haven't allowed it lately.

[because takumi says pess exists but who tf knows when.]

Because you're a lawyer who keeps getting involved in false murder accusations?

[ a little hesitant in that teasing, but listen ]

Among other reasons, yes. But I suppose whenever we do leave, if ever, I've no choice but to bring Maus with me.

[alteracion]

Whenever you don't want to take a case now, you could just go "sorry, my dog needs me". Totally understandable. [ she pets maus, but that joke aside... ] "If ever"? Does this have to do with how you guys came to wind up here?

I could. I very much doubt that would suffice, but it could be worth a try.

[maus is busy getting pets from both grace and greed now.]

...somewhat. I'm sure you've heard by now that we're here to ensure you're indulging enough. We're here for as long as that takes. However long that is remains unknown and up to you.

[alteracion]

But... you will go home when we're done, right? However long that takes.

In theory, yes. In practice...we'll see.

[alteracion]

In theory. [ HMMMM. ] How do you guys know all this stuff anyway? Like... did someone tell you, or did you show up here and get the knowledge?

Do I really strike you as the type to wait for someone to tell me things I want to know?

[alteracion]

I guess not? But I meant when you showed up here the first time. Did you know or was there like... I don't know, an introduction video?

That doesn't change what I said, Grace. I went out and found my own answers.

That's what we did on the train, too. [ grace is still in denial that she's wrong about that stuff so it's funny. ] So how did you find them?

I continued searching places that I'm sure we weren't meant to go. [illegal investigations....2] Ask enough questions, you eventually find a direction.

At least you can't get arrested for it this time. Probably.
