Oh! Hah - I dunno, maybe it's just because there's not much to give to people around here?
[A little sloping shrug. Unlike most maniac sociopaths, he's not feigning a persona to endear himself to others so much as just selectively not showing the parts of his personality that involve murder, so he truly doesn't expect anything from anyone.
He's also holding his new mongoose friend very close!!]
It is! It's cute and soft! I've been talking for ages about how much I miss being around animals, too. [And he is absolutely the kind of person who can at least temporarily be mollified by a stuffed toy version of one...]
[Sometimes you are cute when you aren't being a literal junji ito spawn of satan!!]
I've never named anything before... [HE'S NOT PRACTICED AT THIS AND IT SEEMS LIKE AN IMPORTANT THING TO HAVE PRACTICE IN!! Nervewracking. He'll give this some consideration as he continues walking, holding the mongoose up to examine it again.]
Hm... Maybe Moko Moko? Because it's so soft and tiny and light!
[Literally naming this stuffed animal after the onomatopoeia for stuffed animals.]
[WHY IS THIS NAME EVOLVING... But he'll just stick with Moko Moko wow. Can't believe he only gets to enjoy Moko Moko's company for a few days before he becomes the pink panther.]
I'm not gonna lose it! I take good care of my stuff, you know.
[His THREE WHOLE ITEMS THAT HE OWNS BACK HOME... A HAMMOCK, A BUBBLE WAND AND A SINGLE BOOK.]
That'd be really nice! I wanna take Pride's flower with me, too. [The one he wears to trials, god.] My friends would really like seeing both of them, probably!
I'm surprised Pride gave you that. They don't like anybody. [they're amused by this though.] I guess the curses that hate human stuff would really enjoy flowers and animals, huh.
Also he looks genuinely a bit surprised by that, jesus.]
Really? They've been nice to me the whole time, though! Maybe other people just aren't giving them enough space? [THEY ARE LIKE A FUSSY CAT one must be grateful for the single pat they are allowed and then let them wander back off into the night...
That gets him to laugh, though.]
Makes sense, right? But some of us like a lot of human things, too! For some reason, that always seems to surprise people. [For some reason.] Like - I hate humans, but I still like people, sometimes. As individuals, they're really interesting! And they make a lot of good stuff. I love their books and movies, and they're good architects and problem-solvers. They can be pretty inspiring!
[tmw your official likes and dislikes in the fanbook both include humans. RELATIONSHIP STATUS WITH HUMANITY: IT'S COMPLICATED. As expected of a curse with his source.]
I can enjoy nature without any complicated or innate feelings, though, so I really like it a lot. It's probably the same for them.
[hate that you've nailed pride's personality exactly
anyway.]
I like people too. Sometimes, uh, large gatherings are bad, and sometimes the individuals are too, but I don't know if I've ever met someone who I didn't think deserved the experience of living bright and beautiful.
[ME, POINTING AT ROYCE, WHO'S BASICALLY A RACCOON WITH THE PERSONALITY OF A STRAY CAT.]
Hah, wow - not a single one? That's pretty unique. [He actually sounds like he means it genuinely, too. He's not sure if he believes it - but a lot of the people here are outliers to what he's come to expect, anyway.
He holds a hand briefly, palm flat, like he's catching some rain in the cradle of it.]
What's your favorite part about people? And about nature?
I can still think they're assholes and want them to live. [they point out, with a hint of a grin in their voice.] ... I think I'm like you in that I really like that people create. I like that for most people it's second nature to hold out a hand to other people, even if they're scared to do it.
... For nature, uh, it's that it's terrifying. Haha. It doesn't give a fuck if you're in the way.
Mm... Well! We're different there, of course. [Of course! Curse life. But--] They really are creative, though! It's nice, living in a world with the things they make.
[Now if only he could push them outta their own sandbox.]
That's a good reason to like nature, too. I'd say you might like talking to Jogo, but Hanami is a much better conversationalist.

[shrug.]
It's not that important! Jeeze. It's just a mongoose. [or whatever!!!]

I guess, yeah. What are you going to name it?

Uh huh. [they twirl their umbrella.] Hopefully you can take it with you whenever you make it out of here.
