I thought so, too! Once these dry we'll do the topcoat and you'll have the prettiest nails around.

I can guess what a topcoat is [ haha literal names ] but what does it do?

It's like a seal. It just makes it so the design doesn't chip so fast and makes it nice and smooth.

Ohh, and that’s what makes it last a couple of weeks rather than... well. Days?

Yup! When it does start to chip or when your nails grow and you need touch-ups, we can take care of that whenever we need to.

Nice. I'd say I'd return the favour and do your eye make up or something but-- [ he gestures at the hood with a smile ]-- you're keeping your secrets for now.

You know we can get you make-up if you ask, right? [they sound amused.] Maybe someday you can give me some tips. I've never been really good with eyeliner anyway.

It's harder than it looks! I can't perfect a cat-eye at all so I sort of gave up.

[aubins]

It takes practice, but once you've got it-- you've got it. It's just, y'know, having the time and patience to keep practicing it.

But if you're able to do stuff like this, then... you'll be fine.

You think so? [that makes them happy.] I know the hood hides a lot, but whenever I feel like taking it off it'd be nice to look cute.

If you look cute and feel cute, that's what matters. Even if it's just to stay in your home and not see daylight all day.

Maybe. If you can find me eyeliner, I'll talk you through it step by step from behind a closed door until you get it right, if that's what it takes.
