[despair will be waiting in the unlabeled room, standing on that outcropping of purple crystal, looking out into the distance. they seem aware of it when steven enters as well, though, turning to face him- but not entirely.]
[ Steven enters the purple room, looking around idly as he does so. Of all the rooms, this one still mystifies him the most for perhaps obvious reasons. It's the oddest one yet, without name, without perceivable origin. He wonders.
But he takes his attention off as he sees Despair, nodding once at them. ]
Yeah. Just a little bit of idle chatter for once, I think we all need something like that.
Mm. That's fine. An hour, thirty minutes, ten minutes, even five. Every interaction really can shape a person.
[ He's going to stand there with his hands in his pockets then, a short sigh. But he has no intention to rush things despite it. He said he was here to just talk, not question and pry and probe (haha badumtsh). ]
What do you find familiar about this place? The visual white noise? ...Just like the colour purple? Sad that you got blue, if that's the case.
Well, I don't know if it's obvious, but I think blue fits me pretty well. [ His blue dress shirt... ] I guess the indulgence too, after a fashion. I still wonder if I got sorted into it because it was just all a coincidence, or whether because you know me.
Either way, since you're all probably learning a lot about us, it figures I should do the same.
...It's quiet, here. And unique. Like I'm just getting away from living life for even a brief moment.
It is unnecessary to put effort into learning about you-- particularly as you are aligned with me, there is much I could know of you without you needing to tell me. For the most part, I care little for the finer details of your lives, but I do know who you are.
[they wave one clawed hand, in an idle gesture.]
But yes- it is something of the sort. A place between life and something else.
[despair will be waiting in the bar, already seated; they don't have a drink with them, though, evidently content enough to go without for this conversation. he may just not particularly be a drinker.]
It is far quieter here, at least. Much more agreeable for a conversation.
[instead of just out there with everyone else around...]
[ THURSDAY IT IS, a bit of a delayed nonsense and there was a lot happening anyway... especially with the, uh, THING. On the living side. Oof.
Steven walks in with a slight wave of his hand for greeting, comfortably slipping behind the counter instead. He'll get a glass... and just water, for now. Enough drinking done with the party game on Wednesday, and everything tastes like somewhat chalky alcohol anyway. ]
Can I get you anything, even just a water, for starters? [ It's only polite, and something idle while he starts sorting the questions to ask in his head. ]
More than I intended. I don't usually do drinking games, but I thought I'd sit in for one as an indulgence... and then I ended up getting hit on almost every "never have I ever". [ It does NOT pay to be experienced in life, apparently. ]
Pride texted Law and just outright said "food"... word choice, then. Is our indulgences what fuels the ship?
We have a limit on our text counts, don't we? The matter I want to speak with I think is preferable in-person if you don't mind. You're the only person who can travel here without too much trouble, anyway.
[despair doesn't actually text back! he will simply be in front of the bakery whenever steven happens to come by, lingering there, inspecting his claws.
since this is still emotionshare week, approaching him means being hit with a wall of pretty heavy emotions-- a deep sense of grief, of loss. exhaustion. but a sense of responsibility, along with all of it.
none of that shows in his voice, though; he seems the same as ever.]
I suppose you must have some number of questions, to summon me so.
Steven does look up and -- blinks rapidly at the emotions that he's hit with for a moment. Given how well Despair presents himself outwardly, he wasn't expecting to be hit with this heavy spread. Well, that's going to make his topic of conversation for today... harder? ]
I do, yeah.
You alright, there? We've had a hell of a week in this place and it looks like the living have had a go at it, too. Avatar team hanging on?
[ Innocuous enough way to see if those emotions are recently caused, or apparently ever-present. ]
He doesn't, you're right. But he's always texting you, which is a lot more than I think I can say he puts in effort to for a lot of things. Hope you're doing well, despite everything.
w1, sunday
You wished to speak?

I will make no promises, so you are aware, as to how long I will indulge you in your questioning.

[it's a very small thing to care about, in their estimation.]
But one could say it is simply the atmosphere, here.

I believe you had questions?

I have no particular need of it, at the moment, though the offer is appreciated.

If you say so. Water for me, I think I've had enough of drinking after yesterday.
[ He'll get right into it, though. He's not in the business of wasting time, and he's sure neither is Despair. ]
You know anything about this business regarding us being "food"?
no subject
[he sounds almost amused, at that-- he leans an arm on the bar, chin propped carefully in one clawed hand.]
I would say fuel more than food, really.
