[they clasp her hand firmly, but not painfully. wriggling shadows begin to bubble up around gluttony's arm, waft off their shoulders, collect near their feet. something strikes her heavy in the heart: it's fear.
the shadows quickly leap over to start climbing her arm as the surface of the blood pool quivers. the shadows at the edges of the room bend in, grow darker. the fear is suffocating, and it isn't a simple ideal of any one thing, being afraid to die, being scared of the dark, being alone. it's old, ancient, pure fear. it's fear itself.
in the ringing, a name comes to her mind. blubber bulwark, and an idea follows quickly behind. she knows she will be able to reflect any non-fatal wounds back onto any attacker.
very suddenly, she blinks, and the fear and the shadows have vanished. gluttony has even let go of her hand, standing there patiently, and politely in place.]

[ that's awful. despite how steely she is, vira has a sensitive heart, and she knows fear. this is worse, and she's still shaking when she draws her hand back to her side and squeezes it into a fist as she collects herself.
she blinks back any tears and takes a deep breath before speaking again. ]
...Instead of leaving me a dangerous power to use for the greater good, you give me a defensive power to possibly use in dangerous ways.
