Though I have no idea how it could've ended up in that... adventure we went on. I found it in a drawer there.

they stand a bit straighter seeing it. the TOY! they are about as interested in it as much as a cat would be. the spade tail behind them sways back and forth.]

I am not sure how it was found in such a place. It went missing a little before your arrival.

[ .....toy. she swings the wand a little, curious, letting the string go to-and-fro. ]

How strange. Seems odd enough that it can't be coincidence.

they extend one gloved hand out, palm up.]

I believe quite a few of us have had things go missing mysteriously.

[ she'll hand the toy back though. ]

[they curl their hand around the cat toy and bring it back to inspect it some. hmm. then they turn toward the wall, and a shadowy portal opens. they stick the cat toy in and wiggle it back and forth. after a few moments,

a black cat comes scrambling through.]

[ ah, the little one they'd seen at trial. vira has never kept an animal before, but it's still a bewildering and... cute enough scene that she smiles. there is a bell-like chime where luminiera reacts from the loft, curious too. ]

[ to the cat: ] Hello again. [ to the avatar: ] A friend of yours?

[gluttony sweeps the cat toy around, both in the air and on the floor. they seem to be... sparkling from inside the hood as the cat scrambles after the bouncing end.]

Yes. His name is Judas. He is sleek, and beautiful, and one of the most perfect creatures I have ever seen. Next to the other three. And... the other nine I had back home at one time. And also the tiger at the circus.

Cats are truly magnificent.

No. Unfortunate. There was one at the circus where I worked for a short time. She was a beautiful, wonderful girl.

[they tap judas' stomach with the cat toy playful.]

[ gluttony is a clown confirmed..... though for all the things she's heard about them, at least they love cats. judas is very cute. luminiera floats down, hovering by vira, her tentacles excitedly probing the air as though she wishes to play with this cat too.

vira gently pushes her behind her arm. ]

I'm glad I could reunite Judas with their toy.

[ she's not going to deny a reward though, considering the circumstances. ] And, ah—did you have something in mind?

[they raise their free hand up as if holding their chin thoughtfully beneath the hood. judas rolls up, offering a merowl toward the thing wanting to play with many cat toy tentacles!

after a brief pause, they reach into their robe and remove... a cloth dinner napkin with something in it. they offer it out to vira.]

[ dreamwidth give me my notifs. anyway, luminiera entertains judas and herself by poking at the cat with her many tendrils, making pleased chiming noises all the while.

vira is considerably more serious as she takes the napkin carefully, gingerly looking at its contents. ]

when she opens the napkin, there is a fancy, silver knife and a fork inside.]

Whoever eats with them will have any non-lethal wounds healed. As I said, it will only work once, so use them wisely.

[ she carefully tucks the gift away with a grateful bow. ]

Thank you—I'll be curious to see if a situation arises where it'll be a good alternative to the pods. Hopefully if we're ever stuck in another 'adventure,' it could help.

[ seems like a good way to get rid of minor murder injuries too. ]

Would it help some against lethal injuries as well?

Unfortunately, they do not traverse planes or dimensions here. They open only in parts of the base.

[they peer at her from in the hood thoughtfully. the spade tail sways behind them.]

Apologies for being blunt, my lord, but I do not believe any of you will ever go to that place again. It is best if you give up on your efforts for the girl. I am aware you believe it was very real because of the physical things you experienced, and the things you returned with.

However, I can only surmise it was an illusion to test your mettle.

[ her expression hardens. ]

...A test I failed and would take again.

[ they're right—it's almost certainly not real. so much of their experiences here are illusion, but something about this is difficult to let go all the same. a sort of grief that muddles her clearer thoughts. ]

Ah, but what would you have truly learned if you had "passed"?

[they are all so funny, wanting to go back to this place for a girl they didn't want to eat.]

I would've learned I was capable of more evil than I thought possible.
