I know you're hardly a fan of mine, and aren't going to start divulging helpful little tidbits borne of your affection for me. Nor am I a fan of yours, but you have a certain reckless quality to you that makes me wonder if it isn't worthwhile to try all the same.

At least, I'd be disappointed if I found out that you gave a shit about "protecting" me.

Do not feel alone, Reverend. There is only a single person I am obligated to protect, and they are not here. So rest assured, I do not care about protecting any of you, it's true.

But you may ask me your questions. You see, while I will never hand out anything based on affection, I am perhaps one of the easiest to get honest answers out of if you know what to look for when you are questioning me. It will be a frustrating endeavor, but does anyone truly appreciate what is obtained without the pain of a challenge?

Also, I won't mind if you get eaten by something, which allows me to think more clearly. You didn't appear to particularly mind being eaten by something, either.

Well. I am concerned with dying, of course. But I would not venture to say I did not mind being eaten.

I do not think any creature such as I would enjoy death when there is so much to be done. But it is not something I... typically must worry about. I do not have to worry here about dying from injuries, per say.

Though it is annoying to be treated so badly.

I suppose so. It seemed very annoying, when you were dragging your innards across the floor. But I only mean you seem to dislike these. . . circumstances less than others.

I am a servant, and nothing if not dutiful. My loyalty is unquestionable. So it is a rather big inconvenience to be away from my master currently, even if they are the reason I am here already.

The faster all of you get what you want, perhaps the faster we, too, will be able to return to our rightful places. There is no certainty unless you all complete your goals.

I agree with you that we ought to complete all of our goals as best we can. If that is the best way to ensure our survival.

I simply. . . hmm. Why are all of you still so confident you will get what you want through indulgence? My understanding is you came here promised that just as we were, and it has yet to happen.

A true servant never gives up on their master's orders. I will satisfy this condition as many times as it takes to achieve.

Hopefully, this will be no more times.

And yet, by doing this, aren't we making it stronger. Thus making it less likely it will choose to let go of its meal.

When it has had its fill, it will move on. And then that is no concern of mine.

If you are thinking of making an attempt to destroy it, I would advise against it.

Yes, but recent events have led me to question how much that title conveys expertise. If I committed a lot of gluttonous sins over a period of a few months and then recalibrated, maybe I could become the new Avatar of Gluttony instead. Isn't that how it works?

Not exactly. First of all, I am here. Secondly, I did not initially become the Avatar of gluttony because I indulged in gluttonous sins here.

I know that you have said that your taste is for souls. I suppose that would be rather difficult to indulge in, particularly if you lost your power as we did.

I have stopped fancying the taste of any mundane soul. They are over-abundant. You can find them anywhere. Only particular souls interest me.

So I do not take more than one contract at a time anyway. I am patient. I do not starve in the way mortals do.

That particular aspect of who I am only played a joking part in why I am Gluttony.

Not particularly. It was simply the one I thought would be most funny to have.
