Gluttony is always cryptic. [asshole.] Seven rings is not entirely significant to the number of floors, but I suppose reaching the highest point you can go would create a sense of urgency in you.

Ah. That has been my sense, yes. [So you could have just said so!] I do not have any sense how it will. But I would not like to be unprepared.

It's another thing I'd like to find an answer to. If I can find out anything more to understand the timing...it would be far more beneficial than what we've been doing now. But I do often wonder if it's meant to be out of our hands anyhow. You can see the dilemma.

Yes, I do. And this is why I do what to understand what that place wants from us. I do not assume it to be irrelevant to the overarching thing that this place wants from us.

Surely we have been brought here for some purpose other than fulfilling our own desires.

Perhaps so. [which is troubling on its own.] Then I suppose now you need to create a better idea of how to find what that purpose is and if anything can be done about it.

I have been thinking of it in terms of energy generation. Perhaps due to my own biases, given necromancy is itself a form of energy generation. Our actions are somehow charging a power source which can be used to fuel our desires - but perhaps they are fueling something else, as well.

And what would you do with that power source if such a thing existed? What else could it be fueling?

What I would do would depend on what it is doing. If I could take what I came here for and go - there are some things I could accept in exchange for that and some I fear I could not.

My suspicion would be that it is fueling the existence of this center itself. Or perhaps. . . whatever the pink eyed anomaly outside of this place is.

I can assure you that what Miss Monroe and Miss Lillie saw is of no importance. It simply exists.

Perhaps? I wasn't certain whether it wasn't all just meant to be disconcerting, but Wrath seemed troubled enough by it.

It depends on what it means for a body to be "real."

Wrath is troubled by many things that perhaps they shouldn't always be. [it's not really scolding, but again, thoughtful.]

If we're taking this from a philosophical approach, what would you consider to be "real" in terms of a body?

Flesh. Blood. Bone. The meat, as opposed to the soul.

And when a body includes a soul, what would that be?

I don't want to digress too far on this point. Generally speaking, a living person, as opposed to a cadaver.

Then my question for you is this. If those bodies in the life support room are merely bodies and not living, is it really a proper conclusion to say something is consuming you?

If that is indeed the case - if these are just empty cadavers that take our form and bear no relationship to our souls - then no, I wouldn't view it that way.

Then I suppose that's one less thing to worry about for the moment.

Then do you claim that it is truly not worth worrying about what goes on in that room? Or about Wrath's claim that the bodies of the dead are being eaten?

For now, I would set your focuses on what impacts the living. That is my only suggestion.

I agree it's the best strategy. [She's not overly concerned about saving the dead, actually.] So long as it doesn't endanger us, and so long as Mollymauk is still permitted to use his wish for Beau.

Tealeaf is allowed to do whatever he wishes, theoretically, so long as he's indulging enough. From the looks of things however he seems to be doing alright for himself.

[there's a pause...]

A thing about Harrow is that getting any kind of encouragement from a respected authority figure is really her biggest emotional weakness and I had to stop and consider how embarrassing her reaction to him saying this would be. Honestly it's too bad this is set before the Lust drama because this would get her to just confess to every single thing she's done wrong in her life.]

I don't know about that. Even if my wish is a good one. . . [Molly said it was, so it must be.] I just have the most dreadful feeling about all of it, that it's all going to go wrong somehow.

[truly. also, hm. harrow...it's fine. this really truly is just like talking to franziska but with less yelling and whipping so it seems to come naturally to him. he doesn't think of it as much of a weakness and he doesn't think he has that much of an impact. it doesn't mean he'll stop trying, of course.]

A healthy sense of self-preservation isn't a terrible thing to hold. [because...everything good is too good to be true until it's actually in your hands, and even then you have to hold onto it to ensure it doesn't crumble immediately.] It means you have time to prepare for damage control if things go wrong in the first place.

[there's a pause.] ...and when the unexpected occurs, you can only utilize all of your resources and power to do what you can to make things right again.
