Makes sense... Takeru likes you too, I think - or well, prefers you as far as Avatars go. Should I be saying this?
That makes sense, though. Lust-san is also pretty popular - at least White likes her a lot.... Was Envy-san in trouble before? Not having anyone on their team.
[there's a lull of silence that suggests greed isn't entirely sure what to make of that.]
...he also has decent ideas. [which may as well be an outright compliment. greed...apparently prefers the incredibly logical and somewhat rude people.]
What sort of trouble would you suppose they would be in? [it isn't exactly an answer, but they're curious to see what the participants may be thinking.]
[nods!! it's not like he hears the compliment but even though mineo hates praising takeru - ]
He's really smart! We're lucky we have them with us. [that's one thing he can concede easily]
Hmm.... I dunno. But we're not really clear on what happens when an Avatar loses everyone assigned to them. I guess I was wondering if maybe indulgences are related...?
That came up a lot today - that our indulgences are helping the Avatars along too. Do you know if that's true?
I wouldn't necessarily say it is or isn't true. It's a theory some of us have thought about, that your indulgences can help some of us get closer to things we wish to accomplish. Though there hasn't been any proof that we couldn't reach those goals ourselves. Your arrival here was a surprise, after all.
Miss Shi Qingxuan swapped nearly immediately, however. If something happens to an Avatar when those aligned to them have been displaced, we haven't discovered it yet.
Hmmm.... How long have you all been here again? Before us? It sounds like it's been a while - but we're the first group of people who sort of... just showed up for the indulgence race, right?
Ohh.... well, that makes sense - she's really nice. I'm glad that someone made sure that Envy-san wasn't alone for too long.
We became Avatars a while before your arrival, yes. And your group is the first to participate in something like this. You can see where our confusion came from.
[you sure all are just. here.]
She's very...persistent. [it's a polite way of saying stubborn.] Though I believe they get along somewhat decently, given Envy's particular nature. Swaps were never impossible, but until now it was never necessary to mention.
Huh... What was it like - when that happened? Did you all just... suddenly know that you had to look after all of us, and then wrote up that document to answer our questions? Did you get told by anyone else that we'd be arriving...?
[there are so many questions and he realizes this - ] Sorry, I feel like I'm catching up on a lot... and I guess double-checking stuff 'cause of the meeting.
[he doesn't want to come off as rude though]
Yeah.... I get along with Sloth-san so I never asked about switching. I don't really have a reason to.
Intuition, maybe? The document was Lust's idea though I'm sure if we did not intervene it wouldn't have been as helpful. We weren't told by anyone or anything like that. Similarly to how we simply woke up like this, one day we just knew.
[walking, walking...]
There has been a lot of information floating among you. I'm almost surprised you're only now sharing together.
Just knew... [he blinks a few times at that] But you remember stuff about your old lives, right...? You don't think any of those memories are missing?
[he's just wondering where the gaps in knowledge might be - if there are any?]
We've been trying in smaller groups, I think - but it was nice to get everything out in the open... Word of mouth is fast but announcements and team planning meetings are faster, I guess.
No, I don't believe so. I remember everything perfectly clearly prior to our becoming Avatars. [and then, curiously:] Have any of the others mentioned potential memory loss...?
Your numbers are dwindling. It may be best to continue sharing what you feel is appropriate for the whole group.
Nnnnno, but also I mostly talk to you and Sloth-san. That's a question for Takeru or someone who asks around more. [a beat] I messed up with Pride-san, by the way. Sorry. I tried to take your advice but I'll try again....
[phew!]
Yeah... I was wondering about that too - we've been here a month now, right? Can you say if we're getting any closer to all of this... ending?
...Pride can be difficult to speak with. Understandably so. [they can't blame pride, but.] It may be best to, ah, divide and conquer?
[if he's working with takeru, they each take a few avatars to talk to.]
Of course you're getting closer, but the ending is still undetermined. There isn't enough to draw this to a close just yet. But every bit adds to the overall goal. That's the only trouble though. With some of the things you all want...a lot of indulgence is required. Like an exchange.
Hmm... Yeah, probably. There's some people that Takeru can handle better than me but - I'll just try again to apologize. I don't like leaving things like this...
[he's just stubborn and feeling guilty it's fine, pride shows up headless a few days later and the timing is still bad.]
An exchange? [he blinks at that] Is that the case for me? You know what I want but - ah, it got more complicated... If Takeru and I are from different timelines, I want to be able to resolve that too, even if he'll say it's dumb.
A word of advice. If an apology isn't immediately accepted, it's best to let it lie. [they...are similar, really, so it's just a bit of extra help for people like mineo who they know are very sincere in the things they do.] It likely isn't personal.
.... no. I mean - yeah, technically? I want him to live without being shackled to his past, and he wants me to live in general but....
[ . . . . ]
Takeru said that if I fail here, if I don't manage to get my wish, he'd use his to make sure I don't die. [and that - he sounds a little lost about? a little surprised, like he never expected that level of sacrifice from another person in general, let alone takeru] But if he does that....
He'll have to go to Adonis. And then I won't be able to save him, because even if it's this me with these memories... I'll be in a different timeline.
[he tilts his head]
So.... if it's about indulging and gathering powers to get our wishes - I think I'd rather have a goal on how to keep him from throwing his life away.
[there's something in the way they carry themselves that suggests that this situation is a bit foreign and also familiar to them. not quite to the same degree, but enough that they can understand what mineo's actually saying.]
And I suppose the power to overlap the timelines is out of the question. [...] Are you alive in his timeline? And he in yours?
[greed what have you been through and are you doing okay?????
anyway:]
.... I don't know. Probably? It sounds like Hoshino was working with me on my case and then with him in his.... that's a pretty big deviation, but I don't wanna just - rewrite events? I think I've seen shows on that and they don't go well?
[mineo]
.... but yeah, I think so. So I was thinking - could we just... transfer the memories we've made here into the heads of the versions of us that are alive in our timelines? I'm making the Executive Decision for Alternate Timeline Me that this is okay.
...[they are wearing a hood, but mineo can get the general sense they are absolutely squinting a bit. this is before they lost their eyes. this is allowed.]
While I understand that if the version of you in Sasazuka's timeline had memories of this place you may be able to help him, how precisely does the version of him in your timeline help you if you're still deceased?
It's difficult to quantify, exactly, but if I had to guess I would actually assume the former. The latter only requires the power to change you. The former requires enough to not only change both you and Sasazuka, but also seamlessly slip you both back into place.
And again, there's the issue of you still being dead in your original timeline which would then leave Sazasuka with memories you've developed here and no Enomoto to match. [...]
Unless, of course, you completely abandon your own timeline entirely and transfer your entire being into the you that's in Sasazuka's timeline and he returns to work for Adonis, leaving you to find a way to figure out how to fix that yourself which is another possibility.
But I'm not well versed in those sorts of things. This is all incredibly hypothetical. Options to consider, I suppose.
[it's also possible greed may be misunderstanding, but this is why they're talking about options out loud.]
Well... when we leave this place - will we have our memories by default? So say Takeru ends up winning, cool, no need to work for Adonis when he goes back. He can keep his wish with.... you know.
[the revenge. mineo isn't exactly cool with promoting murder but listen he will take one single casualty over takeru's genius hacking skills going to a terrorist organization. he still doesn't like it but greed doesn't have to deal with their personal drama outside of the mechanics of wishes]
.... then that means the issue would be me, and what happens to me. So if my memories could just - go to Takeru's timeline. I could still work on my case, and solve my case there.
[ . . . ]
I don't really want to mess with Takeru's wish. I think.... I still want to revive myself, if I can. I don't like the idea of leaving things unfinished in that timeline - but....
If I can't indulge enough to get both - reviving myself, and fixing my memories to Takeru's timeline - .... I'd have to choose, right?
Let me ask you a question. Have you and Sasazuka actually discussed this at length? Or was it only that he would use his wish to revive you if you were unable to obtain your own?
I only ask because I feel that this isn't a choice either of you should be making alone given the delicate nature of your timelines. As for your memories...I can only assume so.
He'll tell me to give up on him and focus on living.
[just.
he feels so confident about this?]
You know that guy, right? He comes to talk to you? He's gonna ditch me the first second I take my eyes off of him in some sort of crazy attempt to protect me or keep me from having to make a hard decision.

... yeah. All of it - I think. I don't know, maybe that guy's still hiding stuff and I just have to deal with it but....
.... me being from a timeline where I died at Adonis' hands. Him being from a timeline where he accepted a deal to join them for revenge.
It's pretty messed up?
[like. wow. what a complicated situation.]
