[Well, they're not wrong, and he dips his head down to acknowledge it with a soft hum.]
...Humor me, then. Please. [Because he knows this situation is extremely unlikely, if not impossible.] If, after tomorrow, there isn't a single person who spills another's blood--if every single one of us merely "indulged" in softer ways from then on, what would happen? Would we all receive our gifts and be free to leave?
Well...if nobody else killed and everybody just went back to indulging normally, you'd still be earning what's needed to get the power that you want. It'll probably just take a little longer and you'd be here for a while.
[A while, huh... he hums quietly under his breath.
If nothing else, he's turning it over in his mind. It'll take more than this for him to be convinced, if he ever is, but he's listening. Baby steps, Lust, be patient with the Villain Lite. :<]
...But it's unlikely that that'll be the case, now that people are on their guard. [He'll just say it, because, yeah. He's met the crowd they've got here. Still, he does appreciate Lust giving him an answer, even if it was a moot point to begin with.] When we first spoke, you said some actions give you more "points" than others. Is killing one of those actions?
[He doesn't really know what he expects the answer to be, honestly.]
[For a moment, he looks kind of like he wants to reach out--to squeeze their hand, maybe, or put his own on their shoulder. But in the end, he stays where he is.
And, well. Yeah. Not a lot surprises him, but he can't even dredge up a tiny amount of shock at this news. He'd considered it after Tamaki's death, but it had been too early, and he'd had too many questions still unanswered. He's a more cautious man than he seems to be.]
[even with the fact that childe upset them they seem okay answering questions. it's only fair that he knows and they also know they can't stop him from using that information or spreading it however he wants.
so. they shrug after a moment.]
Did I ever tell you about stuff before this place? [if they have, they can't seem to remember.]
[Truthfully, even Childe doesn't know what he'll do with this information yet. At the end of the day, his ambition is self-serving--if he does share it, it'll only be with someone who will get him closer to his goal, that he wouldn't hesitate to take out later on down the line.
He leans forward, resting his elbows on his legs.]
A little. Just that you're from a large city, with technology almost as modern as here. And that you haven't been back in a long time.
Yeah. And that's all true. But I guess the thing is...there was a string of murders there, too. A serial killer who was reenacting a series of murders that happened a few years ago. I was trying to help someone solve them.
[so. it's unpleasant to be here in the sense of okay now this is too much murder.]
[Me, holding 500 character hints in my hands, crying: IT'S LIKE SHE'S TRYING TO SPEAK TO ME, I KNOW IT
Childe nods a little, mulling that over. So it's not new to them, but if they've been here a long time, doing the same thing... well. As someone who gets easily restless, he can relate, but from a very different angle.]
[pixi i'm crying. but as for that, they shrug again.]
I guess. I'm just not a really big fan of murder and it'd be great if you guys didn't jump to that, but I know now that people have started doing it they're probably not gonna stop.
Lust isn't, though, because, yeah. They're right. Especially since Childe's obviously not the only person who's got this knowledge, and he's certainly not the only person intent on making use of it. His restraint is caution, nothing more.
He watches them carefully.]
...Would you be more comfortable if I discussed it with one of the others, then?
[As far as kindness goes, this is about the best he's got.]
What, murder in general? Or a plan you may be forming to kill someone else? [they frown to themselves even if childe can't see it.] It's probably better to know than be surprised later.
[Since he probably won't openly accuse Lust of murder a second time... maybe... we'll see what the future holds. His friendliness isn't a lie, but at the same time, he's only considerate when he wants to be.
Like now; his voice isn't cold, just matter-of-fact.]Â
I'm sure it won't surprise you to hear it, but let me be clear. I don't believe I'm the strongest person here. [He seems fine with admitting that; there's a reason he's not on Team Pride.] But I do intend to overcome that.
I have no personal interest in any noncombatants. The only joy I take out of this is the thrill of a good fight, and the promise of greater power at the end of it all. But I would rather a tasteless victory than a sweet loss.
[He's not going to hold back for a silly reason like personal morals. At the end of the day, ruthlessness is his guiding principle.]
But there's no need to trouble you with it, if you find it distasteful. It's your choice.
[If Lust says they're fine with it, then, well. He's not going to treat them like a child. But it's an out, if they want to take it.]
It wouldn't have, if this place had been what I'd expected when I agreed to come. [He'd so been looking forward to a straightforward battle free-for-all. He doesn't particularly enjoy having to play this way either.] But I don't charge blindly into unknown danger. That was the first thing my master taught me.
[Be it with the Avatars, or the others who came with him. He's got enough patience to sit back and evaluate, especially when every instinct has been screaming at him not to trust this situation. Especially when he lacks his Vision, his Delusion, and his Transformation. He can work without them, but not hastily.
But if that's Lust's answer, then so be it. It seems counterintuitive to entrust his murder plans to someone who's supposed to help the group solve them, but they already have ways to know what happened. So it doesn't really matter anyway.]
When you say you can't interfere, does that mean you can't help, either?
[Outside of the abilities, he means--if, say, he texts Wrath Thursday night like "ey yo can you help me set this bloody sock on fire", would they respond??]
Just...come see me when you have a plan fully put together and we'll talk. That's all I'm gonna say about it, and don't tell anyone else or this is over.
[Easily, but not carelessly. Much like with what Lust told him about regaining his powers, he has no desire to share anything that directly benefits him. There are no true allies in a place like this, just people he likes better than others.
But he nods, and falls quiet for a moment, turning his bottle around in his hands.]
...I am sorry. For upsetting you, the other day. [He sounds genuine, for whatever that's worth.]

You're right, this isn't a surprise. I'm more surprised it took you this long to say so.

So let's just move on from it, okay? I'm not really mad anymore or anything.
