GRAVEYARD ✨

POPULATION: GHOST TOWN

You die - and then you wake up.

For a second, it feels as though you can't breathe, and then your head breaks the surface. You crawl out of a pool of blood and into a large, crystalline room. Moving images play across the crystal walls, and if you watch close enough, you'll realize that you're seeing the land of the living; a familiar space station with familiar faces. You can watch these images for as long as you'd like - there are several very large benches (as in, you have to climb them to sit on them) around the room for you to rest on while you do.

Regardless of how you died, it seems as though you're not quite gone completely. You're in one piece, at least. That's good news. However, your surroundings are not exactly what you remember.

When you exit the first room, a bleak, empty city sprawls out ahead of you.

The city itself is large. The framework of it seems to tower higher and higher than you can see, up into the black opal sky that shivers and curls every so often. A river entirely made of blood runs through the city, winding around buildings and ending at the crystal room. The most noticeable thing about the buildings themselves is the fact that thorny vines made of pure white steel dig into the walls and floor, cracking the foundations.

The residential building is worn down and old. It's two floors, and has a few small studio apartments built for one or two people to live in. The beds are extremely uncomfortable. It has a communal area downstairs, but the TV is broken, and the couches are torn apart. Sometimes, this building feels obscenely hot in temperature, and smells like rotten eggs.

The grocery store is your typical convenience store. There's a large selection of food in this area, but it all tastes the same - like chalk. On top of this, every so often there will be bloodstains on the walls, the floor, and the displays. They change in size and location, each time you enter the store.

The clothing store is thrifty in nature. All the clothes here are uncomfortable and scratchy, and don't fit quite right. While you're here, time feels... weird. Distorted, almost dreamy. As you're picking out clothes and trying them on (no money needed, just take what you want), you swear you can hear a gunshot in the distance.

Enjoy your time in this city, and remember...your story isn't quite over yet.

[HK is just here enjoying the vibes of everyone accusing each other of murder and the imminent possibility of another execution

however, when he sees aoi give sqx a surprise attack shove into a table he...applauds?]

Commentary: Oh, how very proud I am of the fake meatbag. What a wonderful display of unexpected aggression. And here I had thought my lessons had failed to take root in her scrambled programming.

Statement: What an exciting week this has proven to be. I am beginning to like it here.
holeful: ("I didn't kill my wife!")

[personal profile] holeful 2021-03-07 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
[SUDDENLY SERIOUS.]

Don't call miss Aoi that.
executeprogramming: (Observation:)

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
Explanation: The one designated "Aoi" is not a true organic like you meatbags, despite appearances. In addition, they were programmed by some creator, as I was.
holeful: (I am homeless; I am gay; I have AIDS)

[personal profile] holeful 2021-03-07 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
She's not a robot, it's not the same. Aoi is warm and soft just like any of us, with a beating heart.
executeprogramming: (Greetings:)

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Statement: I will not attempt to dissuade you from your feelings, meatbag. There are plenty of lonely organics in the galaxy who cling to the very convincing synthskin of HRDs like mynocks on a power cable.

It is no difference to me, as human pleasure is not my programmed function. [shocking, that]

[personal profile] holeful 2021-03-07 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
....
[He can't really argue with this because honestly the question of "what's the real difference between humans and highly advanced androids" is a common sci-fi trope.]

I'm just asking you to not call her that.
executeprogramming: (Objection:)

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
[he blinks for a second and then shrugs]

Acknowledgement: I am willing to designate her as a meatbag the same as the rest of you, then.
holeful: (realizing that it was the increase)

[personal profile] holeful 2021-03-07 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, HK-47.

[personal profile] bachelorbored 2021-03-07 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Wh... seriously!?

No way! She's so soft!
executeprogramming: (Observation:)

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Reply: I had assumed you were aware of this, given your sleeping arrangements and the fake meatbag's intended purpose.

Query: Am I to understand you were not making use of her services?
bachelorbored: (十一η•ͺ)

[personal profile] bachelorbored 2021-03-07 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
What? What?!

What services? No! She just crawled into my--! No! We were besties, I would never...!

[kaz waves his hands in front of his face, blustering with each word.]

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Observation: From my experience with Bochaba the Hutt, some of the meatbags seeking such comforts do not engage in any sexual activity, but instead just pay for some semblance of attention. [he shakes his head] Desperate meatbags and their vices. At least such desires are easily exploitable, if completely illogical.
bachelorbored: (九η•ͺ)

[personal profile] bachelorbored 2021-03-07 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea what you're talking about!
bachelorbored: (δΊ”η•ͺ)

[personal profile] bachelorbored 2021-03-07 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, god. [he likes both of them. he can't watch.]

This is just like the great servant war the other day. Why are they doing this?
executeprogramming: (Intimidation:)

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
Conjecture: Perhaps our actions inspired waves of violent influence to reach all the way to wherever the remaining meatbags are. What an inspiring thought.
bachelorbored: (九η•ͺ)

[personal profile] bachelorbored 2021-03-07 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
[a horrible realisation slowly dawn, and settles over kaz, turning his stomach.]

Oh, no.

And they're our ex-roommates.
Edited 2021-03-07 00:42 (UTC)
executeprogramming: (Angry response:)

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
[his eyes glow a little brighter with what is probably & hatefully excitement]

Statement: Indeed they are. We shall have to see if further violent orchestrations on our part continue to influence them. Oh, this will be a very enjoyable week. I can hardly wait.

[and, because he's learned it now, a thumbs up to kaz]

[personal profile] bachelorbored 2021-03-07 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
You are, without a doubt, the worst mechabutler I have ever possessed.
executeprogramming: (Default)

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Correction: Not a butler.
bachelorbored: (δΈ‰η•ͺ)

[personal profile] bachelorbored 2021-03-07 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Fine, fineβ€”you're the worst mecha "contracted indulgence labor associate" I have ever possessed.

Did I get all of that?
executeprogramming: (Objection:)

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Confirmation: Yes, that is the correct terminology for our temporary arrangement and the engagement of my services.

Explanation: A butler, for one, is typically paid.
bachelorbored: (δΊ”η•ͺ)

[personal profile] bachelorbored 2021-03-07 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
That's a fallacy. I don't pay Charles anything.

[wait

what about sadie

wait what the fuck]

...Or... do I?
executeprogramming: (Default)

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Statement: If you have an organic or droid employed as a butler in your services but they are not paid, then the correct designation is "slave"

Query: Is your "mechabutler" fitted with a restraining bolt?
bachelorbored: (十η•ͺ)

[personal profile] bachelorbored 2021-03-07 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Pardon my language, but what the fuck is a restraining bolt?
executeprogramming: (Greetings:)

[personal profile] executeprogramming 2021-03-07 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Explanation: "Restraining bolt" -- a device affixed to a droid in order to limit its functions and enforce its obedience. When inserted, restraining bolts restrict any movement a droid's master does not desire, and also force it to respond to signals produced by a hand-held control unit.

Statement: They are *very* annoying.
