Vlad respected and liked Mineo as one of the few people who didn't outright hate him for no reason at all. He also respected Mineo's devotion to finding the real killer, rather than screwing around and insulting people (read: Vlad) the whole trial. There's an objectivity and willingness to be open-minded that Vlad found very intellectual and therefore appreciated.
Then he killed Childe, who'd done nothing but sit in a jail all week for crimes that half the living had done and no one cared about, and admitted to it afterwards with absolutely zero consequences. And that really soured him on Mineo because it just proved to him that Mineo wasn't really interested in "justice" or "objectivity," he was just as self-serving as everyone else but more deluded about it. Hence, punching him the second he could.
