Anyway... Omi is honestly probably Fukuda's best friend now? "In the game?" no in general remember he did not have any friends before. Anyway things started off on a weird foot bc they banged literally the first time they talked after a truly hilarious misunderstanding over the words "partner" and "drilled," which is just like. Incredible that it even got past that point, frankly? But from the start Omi just felt like, too good to be true, to Fukuda. He's kind and talented and handsome, AND he isn't repulsed by Fukuda? Completely improbable. But he still wanted Omi's attention, because why not indulge?
But then... the memshare. Bad for Omi but ultimately good for Fukuda. Not only did it make Omi less perfect, and thus less Too Good To Be True, the passion behind it made Fukuda respect him because shockingly the serial killer is Weird About Murder. Conversely Omi's concern after HIS memshare was weird and confusing but not entirely unwanted? Just alien. Then he got the fucking lore in jail and was like WOW OMI IS ACTUALLY VERY SAD? And with Omi's wish was really the height of his conflict of him selfishly wanting Omi's attention and friendship but also, confusingly for him, wanting Omi to get what he wants.
That again when Omi died, with him being like I AM sad that Omi died but if I'm honest more than that I am HAPPY I get to talk to him more. As Omi got sadder and sadder this shifted. Grill also helped because it tamped down his envy and pushed a lot of his crushes into platonic territory so he genuinely wanted Gomi to reunite because Those Are His Friends.
His one regret is he doesn't feel like he was ever able to help Omi as much as Omi helped him, and by the end he maybe had an inkling that this was in part because Omi wouldn't allow Fukuda to help him, and this does make him sad. But he is glad Omi's wish changed because he wants Omi to move forward, as even a weird sad dog like him recongises that all of Omi's life basically being for Nachi is weird and sad? So. Congrats on your big weird sad dog Omi because you have him for life.
