[ Gojou thinks about this deeply and the complicated emotions return. It's annoying, frustrating, and he would definitely prefer if everyone admitted they only cared about themselves. That's fine... Yes.
[there's another flurry of messy, complicated feelings of his own. it's harder to decipher his because he doesn't linger long enough, or maybe he has more feelings about this than he wants to bother with, but eventually it settles to something quiet.]
I suppose it is. [he's not entirely sure he agrees, but it's like he said. he doesn't care if people have other opinions.] We'll have to wait and see.
I never expected anything more than you're willing to give. [which can be said for pretty much everyone on the base, because greed learned from a very early age that you can't expect anything from anyone except yourself, and even then it may not be enough.
so there's another scribble of strange emotions that mostly settle on neutral and vaguely appreciative when gojou joins him on the floor. we all truly wish to be this dolphin.]
I've had enough people vent at me without asking for permission. I think it's only fair to say it's within your right to if that's what you want.
I take leaps when I can guarantee there will be something there when I land. [and he almost finds it funny? but that aside. he...looks at his monster claws.]
That's debatable, but I understand your point. [..."when I want something" sticks out to him though, and there's a nod.]
[ Gojou blinks slowly cause like. Is that a leap, Greed? You know what, he will let you have that cause he likes you. The emotions make it obvious what he's thinking so he moves on. ]
Well, I remember stating that most likely people will take the opportunity to kill and killing for your wish is... In our case, justifiable. You have to do what you need to do to win. Despite that, people didn't like the notion that this might be our reality each week. Guess what! Our reality each week.
That's fine and all, but... The choice to vote for Fukuda was all based on his past. I personally did not see him as a threat, then again I could kill him myself, and he was innocent for that case, but people were so abhorred that he killed before and thought they were justified. I wonder how many people cared to know what he currently was doing in his world. I started to wonder what was actionable here, if people deserved second chances.
Law got caught, but also didn't retaliate. Several people said they wouldn't vote for him—he helped Molly keep his life that week. He was voted, either way. It benefited me as second in votes, yet... I don't know. The execution was swayed so easily. Sympathy for a man with a kind heart rotted there because he chose he wanted to live for maybe ten minutes before yielding.
Misa plainly did not kill, but had intentions to? The drama was massive and I got lost in it eventually. I wonder if it was something that could have been negotiated... But we ran with what "killer" lead we had.
Then there's Childe. I voted for him since nothing personal, I know some people would think I killed Mahito. It strung a long debate on what to do with a killer, but it was. [ WOBBLES HAND. ] I remember someone said a justified murder is killing a killer, then why did we vote Law? We didn't have a choice? There's some nuance about why someone had to kill, but it's more about saving those who aren't known to have killed. Aren't we all dangers to each other? The logic and reasoning here is lacking and no one challenged it.
Rather than justice or acting on moral compass, they should have came out and said "we only trust our own to not kill each other."
[ SNORTS. ]
How are people so mad one day and then the next they forget about it? It hasn't been a week since Aoi's death and yet we have burnt evidence in our tutorial trial yesterday as some kind of homage. I wasn't close to her, but I knew she was well-loved. Do regular people just forget people died? Horrible deaths? Why did we choose to do a no-vote ultimatum now?
I commend Harrowhark, but it's wild that we spent a whole week treating Childe like garbage, withholding information from him when it wouldn't hurt us—I think it would have benefited us, actually—and... Just doing everything Aoi wouldn't have wanted.
[ HE SHRUGS. Eh... Just feeling eh. also i'm sorry i had to write it all i put it all here looks down at all of these ic reactions to some ooc chosen stuff ]
[no one needs to know about why greed thinks the way he does, so he’s just glad Gojou likes him enough to ignore it. that helps quite a bit.
so he listens. he doesn’t interrupt, listening as gojou explains everything and hits on a lot of points that greed himself has thought about. there are several points he agrees with. there several he disagrees with. it all boils down to the same idea that people really don’t actually care about the truth, they care about what’s easy and what fits their narrative. it isn’t surprising but it is something that’s weighed on him for some time. he himself has dabbled in some unfair ideas but in the end he’s always turned right back around to “this is what i think, but i know you will go your own path.
there’s a part of him that actually kind of wants to kiss him for being so thorough and saying the things he does agree with, but he doesn’t move because he really should try to get over this infatuation he’s developed. there’s a part of him that wants to laugh, incredulously, because this trial was a shitshow and to him it doesn’t matter if mineo apologized. he still waited until the last minute to confess, and there wasn’t really a reason to enact the crime the way he had.
everything about it is complicated, to say the least.
"do regular people just forget people died?"
it’s a question he thinks about more often than not, actually. there’s a tinge of something at the mention of harrow because he’s well aware of how headstrong she is.]
First of all, I’m of the opinion that a murder is a murder regardless of how justified it is. Even if it was ruled an accident, a murder is still a murder and should be treated as such until the truth is found.
People don’t care about logic and reasoning no matter how often I’ve said to focus on the motivations and understand why these things are happening. It was always going to be this way though, I think, because none of you were prepared for a trial system. [as someone pointed out to him. there’s a low-lying bit of unease though.]
But I think the thing about people is that they’re largely unpredictable. It’s why you find someone who understands them a little better to delve into the nuances.
[ i will pretend that greed isn't infatuated with a meme. Gojou will just digest Greed's vibe after he speaks, then nods. While Gojou is fine with differentiating murder based on intentions and severity... It's. Still taking a life? He doesn't feel the same page as everyone else, but he does understand he shouldn't condemn them. He chose not to do anything.
Still, harsh to watch. ]
Huhhh, you mean have people question your relationship with the victim? Emotional investigation... [ There's an understanding because a lot of murders have emotion as their base or some kind of gain. ] What a pain.
Of course it's a pain. But that's what investigations are meant for. [he sounds slightly amused, but mostly tired. investigations can be exhausting and in some cases they can be dangerous, but he does think it's important to understand the motive. understanding a motive has always been the key in uncovering the culprits.]
Naturally if this were run like a real court, the prosecution would have the witness testify. Then the defense would cross-examine their testimony to try and pick out intricacies and paradoxes that don't add up. In order to understand what information to question, it's beneficial to understand the relationships of the people involved.
But we don't have that luxury here, and apparently it doesn't matter. [a little bitter. but it's fine.]
If it were to be similar to a real court... Wouldn't we need something to compensate for the lack of testimonies in that case? The short time we've had here makes it easy to fabricate the nature of one's relationship to the victim. Then the lack of witnesses due to the nature of Thursday night.
[ Gojou tilts his head, trying to reason through it being more like a courtroom despite his obvious lack of understanding of a regular court case, also despite knowing it. Doesn't matter. He leans against Greed and feigns pity. ]
[...well at least gojou seems to understand, so there's a nod.]
Sure. [there's a pause then.] We didn't have anything like us during our time here. [no avatars, he means.] Everything that happened was because of decisions we made ourselves. I suppose that's why I've always felt it's important to provide what opportunities we could.
[well the answer's debatable because the trials from the last several weeks have been a mess. this trial was also a mockery of the whole system, but at the same time he seems to think on it quietly.]
...mm. [that is not an answer.] I do think it helped, even if not always in the way it was intended to.
[he's choosing not to perceive but also you can't say that he's busy nuzzling and being a gremlin and expect greed not to react to that with semi-positive feelings.
nooo perception...even if there's a flicker of annoyance. "good enough" isn't always enough, but he'll let it slide.
[my god. well. that gets a ripple of amusement, annoyance, something weirdly like fondness but not quite and agreement all at once before it snaps back to a calm sort of emotion.]
As if we needed a trial to learn that. [a joke. but yeah. that's completely fair.]
You ought to consider yourself lucky. Trials general last several days, and that's not including the investigations to go with them.
[a long time!! but ah. right. wishes. this is going to be hilarious considering what he just said, but.]
The legal system has become corrupted. I intend to fix it. [this explains nothing.] There are...two very important cases that have occurred in the last year that have ended disastrously. One is the disbarment of a remarkable defense attorney for presenting forged evidence to the court, and one is the death sentence of a prosecutor for a guilty plea of murder.
I don't believe either of them are guilty. But because these things have happened, a cycle has begun that the public doesn't believe in the legal system, and in turn those working in accordance of the law are resorting to drastic and illegal measures to ensure they get the verdict they seek.
I thought that perhaps...I could find a solution to at least get that attorney his badge back. Even that would be an improvement to help solve the rest.
I am, I am. I don't need to do jury duty! But... I do have meetings with sorcerers of olde. They're boring.
[ Gojou listens and even if the first statement explains NOTHING he gets it. Gojou's wish as he explains it is also vague... Vast, but he also has some ideas on how to get there. Where they both differ is the hand given to them, isn't it? He remembers from listening to Greed, to many people's, wish is that so many put their all here. Gojou doesn't feel as uneasy or insecure.
The emotions are calm, inquisitive, and understanding. The universe will always be cruel. ]
It sounds like we both want to change the world, but yours is one seen by everyone. It's quite a mountain to scale... All eyes are watching.
[ Genuine... Gojou doesn't see his situation in wanting to rework the Jujutsu world more difficult or grander than Greed's just because sorcerers were all chosen to wield powers. ]
"People that have been wronged for doing the right thing."
[ He quotes Greed, but not with his Greed impression this time. Is this right? Is the feeling. ]
