well, the good news is that freshly medicined as of just a couple days ago, gu yun can see and hear just fine! his hands flex at the air, reaching for a pipe that's not there, entire body tense, ready to fight --
but, then, he adjusts to the actual situation and blinks, surprised, head whipping around before his eyes land on primrose. ]
[ hm, hate that. gu yun ignores it for the moment, still too aggressively fight mode. ]
...so it seems. Must be like what happened to Harrow and the others last week.
[ he looks her over briefly, taking stock for any injuries, and then around the room, eyes immediately falling on the chains and knife marked wall. ] Funny. Usually the illusions cover up the murder scenes, not lead us right to them.
Anyway, here's Childe! Also just suddenly appearing into the room, back in his adult form, no injuries or inventory and just as hungry as Gu Yun and Primrose. At this point, it'll feel as though they haven't eaten for a day or so.]
Childe looks about halfway ready to lift his hands again, as if to raise up something he's no longer holding--but then memories come flooding back, and he blinks, everything slotting into place as he readjusts to his actual body again.]

Childe finds a newspaper! It's titled Hexagon Island News and dated to 191X. The news itself, however, is generic.
The window glass doesn't seem very thick.
But guess what? Now that you're all here and very, very hungry... a few things in the room change.
First, four balloons appear. They're helium, so they're hanging around at the ceiling, but their string is long enough that the four can grab them. Each balloon has a piece of tape on it, as if covering a hole to prevent air from leaking.
Instinctively, everyone in the room will understand that they should handle these balloons very carefully.
Secondly, a plate of food appears on the table near the couches. Wow! Convenient.]
[ ...huh. There sure is a lot happening here and also nothing happening at all, huh.
Vlad gingerly grabs for the string of one of the balloons, carefully looping it around his wrist. He doesn't take too long to stare at it, though, because THERE'S FOOD HERE NOW??? AND HOLY SHIT HE IS SO HUNGRY.
He walks up to the table and almost digs right in, but then--hesitates. He kneels down to observe the food more carefully and sniff at it. ]
This is...far too convenient.
[ god he wants to eat it SO BAD but also it might be poisoned?? or a trap of some kind? ]
gu yun cranes his head upward to look at the balloons. he's careful, as he tugs the string closest to him, testing it, and then gently pulls it down so the balloon itself hovers much closer to his head. ]
Don't eat it. [ that seems like a no duh, but. even gu yun, who poisons himself daily, ignores the pained gurgle of his stomach over the sight and leans against the side of the couch, eyeing the plate, but not about to pick up anything.
instead, he carefully brings the balloon he snagged along with to get a feel for what it is. is there anything inside of it that's visible? time to investigate. ]
[Saying it out loud, in case it sounds familiar to anyone else. Never heard of it... weird. But he'll leave the newspaper on the desk in favor of moving over to eyeball the balloon left for him, gingerly taking it by the string. If he doesn't look at the food, he won't be tempted by it.]

I suspect we may not get very far if one of us doesn't try it. So...

Now that he's not BLIND, Gu Yun will see, if he squints hard, what looks like dark vapour swirling inside the balloon...? It's probably fine.

The bad news is that that's because as soon as Primrose touches it, several large, vicious-looking, and apparently also very hungry dogs appear in the room, lunging for the food and devouring it in a matter of seconds. Primrose might want to watch her fingers, lest they end up as collateral damage.
Not that it matters much, as once the dogs are done with the food, they turn towards the four in the room—and then they attack. They'll bite and tear wherever they can reach, and however the group might try to fend themselves, they'll find the dogs impervious and unwavering to any blows or attempts to get them away.]

the minute the dogs come rushing into the room, gu yun smacks the tray of food away from primrose so it scatters. it buys them all of, you know, ten seconds. weakened from hunger and being attacked by dogs is not great, and gu yun shouts and yanks his arm up, immediately releasing the balloon so it floats up and hopefully away from snapping dog teeth.
the first one that tackles him tears silk away from his sleeve as he's releasing the stupid balloon and trying to pull away from being dog chow, but the second comes after, and despite all tussling otherwise, they're utterly impervious. you'd think he could fight a dog! but no! kick one off and it feels like it just bears down harder - he throws his forearm more or less in the mouth of one and tries to make a desperate grab for something to knock the fucking dog off of him with with his now free hand, kicking at what he can and protecting his face when he can, too. fuck!!!! ]
