[whatever, he'll take it. he's surrounded by books and papers and maus is on the desk, yipping quietly upon seeing grace. greed has his hood up, but she can probably feel the raised eyebrow sort of judgement.]

No, but that should not be a deterrent for continuing.

[ have some tea, you nerd, she's grabbing a chair next to the dog and scratching his ears before handing him a treat ]

Maybe not, but that still means it's mainly for yourself. Which would be fine if you owned up to it. [ who's a good boy. yes maus is. yes he iiis ] I guess the giving Mahito treats so he behaves bit didn't pan out?

[maus politely takes his treat and greed takes the tea while eyeballing it.]

What could would that do? Having it be only for myself would imply I don't share it. [but he sighs and sips his tea.]

I believe we were a bit too late for that, I'm afraid. But it seems someone else took matters into their own hands.

[ maus is getting pet while grace leans a little on the table, dropping her chin on her hand ]

Yeah... and we didn't make any progress on that once it seemed obvious Mahito probably killed Aoi. [ she's not too sure how to feel about That, so instead she moves on; ] What's the paperwork about anyway? Information you've gathered this week?

That seems to happen. Once you solve one case, you abandon it in favor of something else if the victim happened to also be a culprit. But perhaps that's an answer to find later. [he looks at his papers then.]

Information, case notes, records of yesterday's trial and today's execution. I've been keeping them since the beginning.

[alteracion]

It's weighing which case is worth more to solve, I guess. It's not like we've got a ton of time.

[ grace keeps petting maus, because he is the real reason she came here. who's greed. ]

That makes sense. But... you always know what actually happened in those cases. Does it matter what we find out for that? Or is it just notes talking about how terrible we'd be if it wasn't for Molly and Harrow?

It does put you at a disadvantage. Perhaps one life shouldn't matter more than another, but that seems to be the case.

It matters for tracking progress, anything that may be missed, or anything that may be different than what we already knew prior to the start of the trial.

[alteracion]

[ grace isn't sure what to say to the first part because she's weighed plenty of lives on the train! it turns out! maybe! and mahito killing aoi gives her complicated feelings in the null department because what the fuck is a person anyway.

she doesn't say that and just hums a vague "I guess" instead, concentrating on the second part ]

There are some anomalies that occur around this base that meddle where they shouldn't. It is always best to confirm nothing about the crime scene or the case itself has changed.

Anomalies... Besides our powers and items or stuff like Envy's house being haunted?

All of the above. As you're well aware, people have used their powers in the middle of trials as well. I'd like to take those into account as well.

[alteracion]

Things do tend to get messy in there. [ tiredly. she fluffs up maus' fur ] Speaking of, we can't switch the powers we get from those simulation things, right?

[probe]

No. Though you may only hold two of them at a time. Why?

[maus licks grace's hand while she does that.]

I've only got the one anyway. [ mauuus nooo the drooool. it's fine she'll just clean her glove. she boops his nose with her other hand ] And because it's kind of a dud unless I want to mess with people.

[ which she could do but she'd get caught immediately now that people know which three of them have it smh ]

Have you considered asking another Avatar for a second one?

Yeah, but I thought they just gave them out to people they liked?

[ and grace has not exactly endeared herself to any of the others because sometimes you are terrible at tagging ]

Not necessarily. I've given them to people who presented their case for why they wanted them. It's possible you can receive one from one of the others.

Pride, Wrath, Despair. Sure.

[ like, once or twice each, but it counts? she plays with maus' pawpaws again ]

[maus lets this happen, smiling his dumb doggy smile. greed hums to themselves at that.]
