A symbol of my station. In our society, masks such as this identified... I suppose calling ourselves the leaders is the most direct way to phrase it, or at least the most understandable.
As such, it is something of import.
[they reach into their robes, and they remove a small piece of raw, deep purple crystal, holding it out to her. it catches the light well despite not being a cut stone, still translucent and bright.]
You may take this in exchange; I do believe you may find some use for it.
So it's a status symbol. That's cool! Good thing I'm the one who found it.
[ vs. douman. and then she looks appropriately intrigued by the crystal, because like. it's very pretty? it's pretty and she likes shiny things. she reaches out for it and brings it up to the light, watching how it catches it ]
Oooh. Thanks! What does it do? Besides being pretty.
It will not have its full power; this contains only a fragment of the original spell. But what is within it should suffice to let you destroy one object completely.
Cool. Thanks. [ she twirls it around for a bit before putting it in her pouch ] I'm just curious, so tell me if you don't want to answer. But were you a leader like... army leader, or more like some kind of monarchy?
Neither. Our positions were for guidance, not command or judgment; each was given the symbol of a constellation in our sky, for just as the stars' light shone down upon the world, so too were we meant to be guiding lights for our people. We would take on the name associated with our position, as a sign of our own dedication.
Huh. Sort of like how you represent a sin now as an Avatar? [ she peers at the mask a little. or where it used to be ig ] So the masks referenced the constellation you symbolized, then?
Something like that, yes, although the masks are more to distinguish each of us than they are related to the constellation. They are two separate symbols.
But basically it marks you as special and worthy of being followed? [ huh. she tilts her head ] Which constellation were you? Hmm. Though I guess there's no telling if I even know it.
