Yeah! I haven't played one in forever, but they're fun! Especially if you can hit the bonuses. Come on.
[they will drift over to the machine, taking a look at it before they also just. reach up and lower their hood. without it, douman can see the heart-shaped pupils of her bright pink eyes and the way her pink hair is actually tied off into two twintails. the ends appear to be moving on their own, prehensile and shaping themselves into small hearts and waves. there seems to be something moving behind her bangs (and judging by the slight pink glow, it's likely a third eye), and sticking out from the collar of her cloak are the tips of two small rainbow-colored wings. oh, and yes, she's wearing the cat headband.
crystal you earned this i'm in tears.]
So! See these buttons? These are the ones you wanna hit to flip the levers and keep the ball moving. And you want to pull on this to send the ball up so it starts at the top.
Oh. Thank you! [that's really sweet? but she smiles graciously because that's what you do and she nods as she dances out of the way to gesture to the machine.]
Put your hands here. I'll pull to start the game. When the ball gets too close to a lever, you press the button!
[and without warning she pulls the launch knob and sends the ball flying straight up the chute and into the machine as it immediately starts making all kinds of noises. lust, did you have to pull so hard?]
[There it goes! Douman startles, easily, as the lights go on, and the ball starts to bounce off characters and other lights and circles...and by the time it reaches the bottom, Douman suddenly remembers what to do and-]
[Oh. Its already fallen through by the time they activate the levers.]
[lust is off to the side cheering them on, but even as the ball falls right through the center of the levers they only laugh and wait for the next ball to load.]
It's pretty hard! You have to really stay on top of it and follow it to make sure you don't let it drop. It's taken me a long time to learn how to play, too. Wanna try again?
[It a new experience, for sure, but the sounds and lights are definitely setting off all those serotonin receptors in their head. Reward! Excitement! A cute girl cheering them on-!]
[And when the ball comes rolling down, they hit it up again!]
It gets really exciting when you start racking up a high score and hit your bonuses. I wonder what this one's is...usually you have to hit a certain part of the machine and the board changes. [she's busy looking now, following the ball with her eyes.]
And if you keep practicing you're gonna get better and better.
I don't know if I've ever really thought of one. I guess I thought maybe it was really like the stories where everything was perfect after you died, but there's still a lot you can do here to change it.
As long as you're feeling okay about it. Or...as okay as you can.
To be honest, it was a miracle I could even survive as I am, without influences such as Limbo. Considering my options...finding small happinesses like this is not something I could have ever expected.
We were interwoven, body and soul. Though I would describe Limbo as...more of a tumor, than anything else. It wasn't as if I could do anything about it. I was trapped.
[me like OH I KNOW WHAT IRIS IS REFERRING TO OHOHOHOHO]
[Meanwhile Douman just stares at the pinball machine, sighing.]
Yes. In the beginning, after they integrated with me, it was as if...everything was okay. But then I lost my body...and my thoughts...and soon enough, they were acting like me in front of others. People I knew and worked with every day, in my life, and...no one was the wiser.
...something similar happened to someone I know. Or, I guess, a lot of someones I know. It's really scary because you can never really know who you're talking to when a person has the power to slip in just like a parasite or something.

[Sorry, they're just...a little starstruck?]
Ah, you're quite...
[And just glancing away!! GLANCING AWAY AND BLUSHING!! YEAH!!! PINBALL MACHINES WOW LOOK AT THAT PIN BALL OR WHATEVER THEY DO]

Guess I should've given you a warning?

[But they shake their head! Get ahold of yourself!]
It's just...you're quite nice to look at. [A clearing of the throat.] Anyways, I apologize. You said something about levers?

[Sounds simple enough!]
Let us try!

Oh. Goodness. It's so fast-!

[They have a very determined look on their face.]
I can get it this time! I can!
no subject
Get ready for it! And don't be afraid to tilt the machine if you have to!
no subject
[THIS IS EXTREMELY NERVE-WRACKING but! Douman watches the ball intently, and when it gets down to the levers...]
[They slam the button! And the ball shoots back up into the field!]
Oh! I did it!

[it's hard to say if she's into this because it's exciting or because she's glad they seem to be enjoying themselves right now.]

[When the look for the score, the ball slips, and...oh, game over. Douman blinks.]
Ah...it really does seem like I need to practice more.
no subject
Aw, too bad. You were doing really good up until then. See? [she taps the scoreboard at the top.] Just don't psych yourself out!
[but she grins again.] I'm glad you have this place. It's better than what I thought being dead would be like.
no subject
[Whoops.]
[But that gets an agreeing nod from him.]
Yes. I'm not one to really think about an afterlife, but...this isn't bad. Not at all.

And the longer you were intertwined, the more they were taking over and changing who you really were. Right?
