[surprisingly, there is a moment of hesitation.]
One moment.
[they turn away from douman and toward one wall of the kitchen. the liquid black portal splits open again, and they step through. it disappears behind them. several moments pass, and the portal reappears once more.
a fluffy orange cat speeds out, but the instant it spots douman it skids sideways to a halt, bowed up and bristled. it offers douman a hiss as gluttony emerges with their arms full of three more cats: a black one, a tortoise shell one, and a white one.]
Now, Cain.

[Douman just laughs at the cat hissing, moving over with an admiring look at the cats in Gluttony's arms.]
Oh, what a menagerie you have! How precious. [And reaching over a hand, but hesitating.] May I...pet them?

gluttony deposits the other three cats right on the kitchen counter, completely unbothered by the fact this is where they are going.] This is Judas. [they stroke the black one.] This is Jezebel. [they stroke the head of the tortoise shell.] And this is Delilah. [the white one, which they pat.]
Yes. You may pet them.

[the cats allow the pets! the white one is incredibly sweet, and she keeps attempting to get more love from douman. the black one is nice, but he unfortunately keeps trying to mess with things on the counter. mischievous....

Thank you. I have had them for a while now. I love them. They are the most amazing creatures in the entire universe. Simply wonderful. Their soft, glistening fur, and their tickling whiskers... The small, squishy pads on the bottom of their paws...

something very much like... sparkles...? starts springing out of the darkness of the hood at the appraisal. they really just hold one of the cat's sweet faces in their gloved hands and tip their head back to look at the sky.]
